first, i take personal offense to this, that we talk crap here.
i (for one) have right now 20 years of driving experience which also includes, teaming and some training i did for my company, although, i was NEVER PAID a driver's trainer pay.
i can tell you, i DO KNOW some things about SOME companies, and SOME OF THAT is from PERSONAL experience.

So, I am going to give you my experience... to all new truck drivers looking for a school to go to... don't listen to most of this crap on here... people like to complain... trust me... reading most of these forums will only make the decision harder or steer you away from truck driver all together.

again, i take offense with these comments.......
only a "regular certified driving school" is the prefered way to go. to go ahead and sign a contract with a large carrier for training, puts the student into a tailspin of uncertainty, and binding contractual agreements.
and IF I CAN CONVINCE someone from NOT being a trucker, I WILL...
it's NOT A JOB for everyone.

If I have issues with them I will make sure they are NOT personal... as to give readers a fair say on the company, whether it is going to be good or bad...
|
this i find hard to believe, because its ALWAYS personal

CRST I will be training with for 3 1/2 weeks and then I go on the road for 28 straight days with a trainer preferably a girl if they have one! :) As I am female... After then 28 days me and my room mate will get our OWN truck and we are off... We get to bring our truck home on the home times which is good. and the contract is only for 8 months! So if they totally suck I don't have to stay for a year! :) I will save all other details til later when I have left for training and will keep it updated as much as possible for all those looking at CRST
Best of luck to all those new truckers out there!

i hope you do well, because 3 1/2 weeks may NOT BE enough time for you to learn backing manuvers efficently enough. most schools have students doing "yard manuvers" for "up to" 8 weeks, and that's IN THE YARD, not on the road, where you can concentrate on those moves.
i feel right now, that you will be given a "crash course" in backing. take into account to that YOU WILL BE DOING classroom training that is required, and even that takes time.
when some of us give out advice its because "we've been there, done that", and THAT AIN'T CRAP...........
and most of us know all too well, company paid training isn't as thorough as school training.......
then too remember, you need to get your driver's license at your home state..........
you'll still need to pass those tests as well.........
