Better take a listen trucking friends...I do not want the railroads to take 'my' freight and I do not want the states to take my companies revenue to make thier own revenue. The states will be getting money from the latest bailout plan...Traffic World OnLine - Government & Regulations

The way we're heading we'll be required to show our travel papers (National I. D.) at all cash boxes anyways and the bypass lanes will be eliminated just to make things that much more interesting.

if not being done more now these days then ever before, back roads will get busier.

ironic twist.........

gas prices rose sharply.....

we cut back on driving

states were losing tax revenues from lack of gas sales....

so some are raising the gas taxes again to compensate for the loss.

people will cut back again

now, (for a while at least) talk about installing some type of GPS in EVERY VEHICLE so the states can get "mileage taxes" from us........

so, they will SPEND money they DO NOT HAVE, to get money they cannot get..........????

we do not need to worry about terrorism...........

there are plenty of "those people" in DC and elsewhere's.............

While back roads ARE a means to an end (no pun intended or implied), some states (like Va., Rt. 11 in sections) have lowered the weight limits therein making Back Road travels in CMVs impossible because of LARGE fines and/or Impounding of vehicles.
Future of Trucking:
Interstate travel ONLY with parking areas at selected off ramps (akin to Toll roads) for Local shuttle trucks to complete deliveries. Parking areas will thus be monitored (Spy Cameras coupled with receiving Microphones) for compliance of required conformity as well as penalizing drivers for such things as tossing trash about or IDLING their trucks.
As the i.r.s. states: "We're seeking voluntary compliance".
