Default Driver found dead in his truck.

I was in a Flying J in Waterloo, IA yesterday. When about 3 or 4 County Sheriffs started driving around the parking lot very slowly. They were evidently looking for someone. It didnt take long for them to find the truck they were looking for. About 10 minutes later a rescue squad showed up. It was on the opposite side of the parking lot from where I was. I was just listening to other drivers talking about what was going on. Evidently the company (I never heard who the company was) finally got to missing the truck and driver and tracked him down by qualcomm. They found the driver dead in his sleeper. Dont know how long he had been there. Maybe someone on here that maybe drives for the same company and has heard of it can share the name of the company. Prayers go out to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear about this. Unfortuantely, this happens on a regular basis in our line of work. Its happened several times in Beaverdam, Ohio. I hear about it since I live close to Beaverdam. We should all stop and look in the mirror and reflect on our eating habits and health and think about this for a few minutes. Are we really doing everything we can to improve our health?

this is a sad story, and IT DOES HAPPEN. too bad it took whatever amount of time to contact the driver. it could have been days before they worried about him, or just a few hours, if they had strict policies on communications. either way, another driver has died.

we will never know why/what/how, it all happened. maybe a lesson learned here....??

contact you family daily, once for sure, maybe twice. this way, if something is wrong, they can contact the company....??

This does happen more often than I like to hear.
I've heard of two cases like this over the past year at a nearby Petro by my home-20.
Once in winter and again in summer.
In each case the culprit proved to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
Specifically, each driver had let his truck idle for heat in winter and AC in summer.
There proved to be a pinhole leak in the exhaust manifold of each truck that
passed directly under the cab, and hence, into the sleeper.
The driver in each case fell asleep and just never woke up.

I think this CO exhuast is a real issue with some trucks.
The slightest pinhole, crack, or buckle of the manifold in just the right
spot can be deadly to a driver after he goes to bed at night.
They have CO detectors in many truckstops that are taylored just for trucks.
They go for around $40 to $50 bucks.
If you're going to idle your truck all night its well worth the cost.
You'd hate to hafta see your local sherriff tell your wife & kids that you're
not coming home again - ever.
