Question failed a drug test 3yrs ago

I failed a drug test 3yrs ago, so now that it has been over three years can I apply for jobs without reporting it? Will anyone hire me and yes I have been drug free for 3yrs also. Thank You!

If DAC/ISIS or Choicepoint have it on file and the employer uses either, it will be on there basically forever.

Most trucking companies go by the rules set down by thier insurance companies, so it all depends.

As far as being drug-free, most employers hear all kinds of lies all the time so that won't count for much, IMHO.

BTW, I am not saying I don't believe you, just telling you how it is in the real world.

Good luck to you, friend!

another poster said if it was in "DAC/USIS", and the other company, then i do believe its in the files for 7 years....

for instance, i had several jobs that reported to DAC/USIS, but once the 7 year mark went by, DAC/USIS was NO LONGER able to provide any information due to (the laws??) pertaining to how long files can be kept current.

suffice it to say, get a copy of your own DAC/USIS report, and check it out for yourself.

www.usis.com

1) go to the bottom of the page, click onto "consumer"

2) then print up the PDF file

3) fill it all out, and make sure you check off "free copy"

(you are entitled to 1 free copy each year, or, if an employer does not hire you)

4) then you need to make a photo copy of your drivers license AND social security card.

5) then you mail it to USIS (DAC)

6) then you wait (about) 3 weeks for it to arrive.

7) then you look all through it.

8) then if there is something you DO NOT agree with.

9) you go back to the web page, consumers, then click onto "report dispute form"

10) same process, photo copies of DL and SS card, and expalin your dispute

11) mail it in

12) wait for a response

13) do this as many times as you have to.............

so as you can see..........

having ANY drug or alcohol problems in your past.....

will REQUIRE YOU to do WHATEVER it takes to get it taken care of........

Choicepoint is a fairly new information company that serves many insurance companies, including vehicle insurance. Unlike DAC their info on people like drivers never goes away. Very disturbing but its reality in the 21st century.

and i also had dealings with yet ANOTHER background checking company named: Sterling..........

here is there website: Sterling Infosystems

i had these people do a check on me for Chrysler, which through them (Sterling) i found that ANOTHER employer screwed up my DAC report, which took me (about) 2 months to clear up........it wasn't anything bad said about me, just not the correct information. but a nightmare all the same....

I personally talked to a real live person at USIS who stated to me that any "pre-employment" drug screen positive will be removed after three years of the reporting date.
