Default CDL eye test

i live in dallas tx and i am considering a trucking career but have a concern about the eye exam...

to get a cdl, are my eyes tested individually? i.e. left eye test/right eye test

i have a scarred retina in my left eye which blurs my vision for reading, peripheral vision is fine. even with lense correction, my left eye is 20/100.

i can pass a standard DOT eye test using both eyes, but if i was tested using left eye only i would FAIL badly.

thanks in advance...

A driver will be required to take and pass a vision test. If the vision exam is not passed the applicant may apply for a vision waiver.

Texas Department of Public Safety - Courtesy, Service, Protection

From page vi: 12) vision 20/40 or better in each eye, not color blind
