Default Dartco??

Anyone know anything good or bad about Dartco out of Sellersburg, IN.

I know they are the company driver division of Dart Transit. Their pay and Benefits seem to be OK. I can't find much info on how many miles they average or how much layover they have. I mostley have what the recruiters tell me and you know that can't allways be trusted. I'm looking for more info before I switch.

Thanks

well let me put it to you this way.....

many, many years ago when i had hair on my head, and it wasn't gray, i worked for NAVL (north american van lines), but i worked for thier company driver division known then as ComTrans.

we were in direct competition with the o/o's.........

we got the good freight. the o/o's got the crap freight.

now, of course, we are talking about Dart, which is primarily o/o.........

i know nothing about Dartco. it wouldn't surprise me one bit, if slowly, Dartco (Dart) starts to "remove" o/o's from the payroll for "cheaper" labor, given these tough economic times. many companies have dropped thier o/o's, especially one company i used to work for.

unless someone here actually works for them, you'll have to "wing" this one.

as far as recruiters go.........you don't believe a word they say.....???

SHAME ON YOU.............

I have a friend that works for Dart and I feel like they do him wrong. He complains that he can't make any money and there have been times when we won't see him for almost 3 months because he is always having to work...to make money. I wish he would find something else.

The MAIN problem is there really is not anything else as so many Company Drivers and Owner Operators are sitting a lot nationwide waiting on loads to either get them closer to home (to park the rig?) or to sit somewhere else for days and days spending money.
Some O/Os will deadhead (250-1,000 miles) in the hopes of getting something better yet are going broke just deadheading.
---
Dart Transit #2 in Eagan, MN. is a Owner Operator based company with its own Truck sales yard.
I had NO IDEA that Dart Transit even has a Company Driver division.

It's been said that one can make a small fortune in Trucking if first one starts with a large one.
Since '07 this doesn't apply.

I am not sure which Dart he works for but he seems to stay busy. What he really wants to do is drive local. He is stuck with that truck and I really don't know what the consequences would be if he give the truck up. Sometimes I think he would be better off.

I worked for a company OTR some years ago that had a mix of company and OOs. What I saw happen alot was the OOs got a load and ran the majority of the miles to drop it near the receiver. Then when the appt got close, the company guys would take it in. Shorter miles and lots of dock time. The reverse was true also. I would pick up a load and shag it to a drop yard for an OO to finish. Not always the case, but depends on who they want to feed more.
