Default Renting a truck/trailer to move

Has anyone ever heard of any company that will rent somone with a CDL A a tractor and trailer for moving like Uhaul or Ryder doing a 1 or 2 day move? A new member at my gun club the other day who's originally from IL tried to tell me out there you can rent this set up. I've never heard of this but I figured since this website is massive someone might prove this right. My guy says this guy either had one too many or one of the bb's entered his ear and did some damage after the skeet shoot. Maybe I am wrong and you can do this, I've never heard of it.

I have never heard of such. I know U-Haul only has small trucks(around here anyway). I don't think Ryder, Penske, AIM(I know for sure AIM won't) would rent a full size tractor/trailer to an individual just to move. To much liability involved. Best would be to call and ask. You never know.

ABF has U-pack which allows you to "rent" the use of a pup for interstate moves. You pay by the linear foot and can use a few feet (there is a min. charge) or you can use whole trailers. The people that I delivered the trailers to seemed to be very happy with the service. They supply a ramp and bulkhead to seperate your shipment from the general freight that they will load behind your shipment if there is trailer space still available. There aren't any furniture pads supplied.

I don't know why anyone couldn't rent a tractor trailer from Ryder or Penske. I know they used to have daily and weekly plans.
Probably not going to find a HHG style trailer though.

Lightbulb

In ADDITION to what is stated by another regarding the Insurance gamble, I believe even IF rental companies were to supply a combo, the rental rate(s) would be astronomical, plus there's the per mile rate.

I will say that a person is better off renting two 26' box trucks because one will save money and prevent many possible events from occurring plus box trucks are lower in the rear to ease loading and unloading.
