Default combination endorsement

Am I right in thinking that a combination endorsement only applies to class A CDL holders?? Isn't it only required when pulling trailers over 10,000 pounds???

Class A is the combination "endorsement." Yes, class A means able to pull a trailer over 10k, but there is a seperate endorsement needed to pull doubles/triples.

Hey! Thanks. Good to know. I am a week away from taking my driving test for my B license. Got the permit, air brakes, passenger, hazmat and tanker endorsements and was wondering what else was available to a B CDL holder. Will go get the School Bus next month. Put in my application and paid my money for the hazmat background checks and will drive three hours day after tomorrow to get finger printed. (No place closer.) Brain is strained from all the studying. I managed to do all this inside a two week period. Glad I bought a study guide. Helped plenty! I deceided to go to a school for a week to study the actual driving part. (I didn't have a vehicle to test in.) All the written tests for the permit and endorsenemts I did on my own. Saved money that way. I'm pretty stoked. Figured it couldn't hurt to get every endorsement I could to help open employment opportunities. (While I am at the school I also plan to learn to drive a forklift! Whoo Hoo!)

Good luck with your career choice. I started with a B myself. I did the same as you; loaded up with all endorsements, except passenger and school bus because I didn't have a bus at my disposal for the road test.
