Default How about having some pride in our job?

This may not make some of you happy but for the most part the pro's will agree.
I was in pa the other day at a truck stop.
I sat down and ordered some supper.the food came out so i started eating.
two other drivers come in and sat at the table next to me and frank.
then we get a nose full they smelled like they hadnt showered in a month.
matted up hair. the smell was bad enough where i didnt finish my meal.
what im getting at is truck stops have showers and barber shops and all kinds of hygean articals we can buy.it just baffeles me how some drivers will not take the 15 min to jump in the shower and clean them selves up.
i dont care about long hair or a beard but come on we are pro drivers and a little water never hurt any one.
im not attacking any ones carictor just their hygean.
have a little consideration for the other drivers and the people you come in contact with.from one driver to another show some pride in your job we are the people that move the world.little kids look up to us people depend on us.
so when we are out there on the road we should take the time and respect other people and clean up a little.

So true! What get's me is most truck stops with showers will give you a free shower with a fuel fill up of 75 gallons or more. I always drove local. There were times when i would get swetty from helping unload or whatever and would stop and take a shower on the way home because I had free passes(Hess Wilco in Harrisburg off exit 72 or 77 not sure) but I couldn't stand smelling myself. Some people have not morals or couth. In college my roomate used to be a slob too. He would not bath for what seemed like a week at a time and then we would go out he would take the "baby powder bath". He would basically use about a 1/3 of the bottle of powder and scrub himself with that. He smelled like cured lutefisk that someone forgot to dig up for a month! I lived with the animals for almost 2 years before he finally quit. When he left there must have been 20 bottles of baby powder throughout his room. The worst part was his bedroom was the one without a window so you can only imagine how bad it stunk. We unloaded 2 bottles of Ozium to get that stench out.

Here's your choice
you are hungry as heck
2 seats available on the ends
one side has the stereotype dirty smelly truckdriver
one side is a hard of hearing driver with a Blue tooth
How the heck did I wind up in this busness?

Well you do know the statement in Restaurants:
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE.

My rendition especially FOR truck stops:
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SERVE REFUSE TO ANYONE.
and
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SERVE REFUSE (those that smell like a seasoned Dumpster).
- - -
I'll seek counsel of the management of the establishment seeing as how I was TRYING to enjoy a truck stop meal or the establishment can simply pay for my meal if they refuse to address the SMELL.
- - -
My wife works at a division of a large trucking company and occasionally staggers when approached by these less than pleasant folk with their incapability of presentable Hygiene.
- - -
There have been drivers offered Hygiene products by office staff of trucking companies where the drivers refused to use the products and were subsequently fired, or so the stories depict.

I don't know what I'd do if I had to go a day without a shower. Hell, if I'm working on a car that day and nothing else, I even have to take one before getting greased up working on the car and then another one after. The bad part is the general public likes to stereotype us all as those smelly, rough looking guys/gals. They would be shocked to see the guys working out of my terminal. One of them wears his Sunday best almost everyday.
