Default Truck Driving Schools Booming

I just heard an ABC News radio report on the national feed about how truck driving schools are busy. One trainee in Florida said he hopes to make over 60,000 per year, he used to own a resturant. The reporter said the jobs are in the food business. Ummm, the food business supplies the resturants. Many resturants are closing thus things have slowed down enough in the food business that many companies are not hiring right now. What's wrong with this story?

what's wrong with this story is a few things.........

first, Swift has laid off some drivers.

second, Schnieder has closed its school.

third, many trucking companies are either cutting back or just plain closing.

forth, the unemployment office is paying for "re-training" in another field. and they believe trucking is better than anything else out there.

i know from first hand knowledge about the unemployment office sending people to trucking school. people that simply CANNOT DRIVE A CAR, let alone an 18 wheeler. yes, many CAN BE trained......the others......??

again, i got first hand knowledge of this fiasco.............

every time someone loses thier job, they think, "hey, i always wanted to drive a truck", or "i like driving"...........and i say....."here we go again".......

I'm just turned 46, and I went up to the Job Center and got trained in Heavy Equipment, CDL-A with all endorsements.

It cost, the State of Ohio around $10,000.00 to train me in another field of work. I really was very interested in driving a truck, but as we all know, the economy sucks.
I got 100% on everything, and past my tests, in one try. I have driven alot of different equipment, and done alot of construction logistics over the years. The whole truck driving mentality, seemed like a great place for me... Oh, Well....My Loss..

As we,... all know,... some people..myself included, WILL NOT be a slave, to corporate America, and allow people to abuse them.
These BIG trucking comp. are know, for this activity, and in my weak opinion... they, in-joy it..

In, three years or, less time... It will be different, and unless, I'm making alot of money, at this new job, (I'm ALLEGEDLY getting ?)...
... I'll drive a truck in three years or sooner??

The school's for truck driving, are good sometimes ,and bad others....
I liked both my schools, and am very grateful to have such an
opportunity to get qualified to work,.. "big stuff"....

Later all....

That person in Florida is just another of the many scam artists unconcerned with how trucking is becoming and of where it currently exists.
Just another scumbag preying upon those that believe everything.

The government will gladly pay thousands of taxpayer dollars to "retrain" folks for jobs that don't exist.

When I was laid off from programming years ago, they paid for a year of "retraining" in a new form of programming, since programming was "in demand". They even extended my unemployment payments while I was in training. I maxed out all the freebies, and when the gravy train ended, made a real effort to get another programming job, for months, got a few interviews but no offers. Ended up working in retail (yuck) before I got up the nerve to get into trucking, which has been a good choice.
