Too many lease to own drivers end up ripped off. Its a big scam. Better to go O/O and do things your own way, IMO.

From someone who has never done either.....

When you enter a lease program, you are leased TO THE COMPANY as well as leasing the truck. If they are starving you, you must endure. As an OO, you have a little more freedom to come and go with your truck. I believe that is one of the big differences.

I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.

Owner operator is better but ...
you just don't go out , buy a truck and look for a company
You need to find a decent company first
then buy a truck to fit the job

L/P is not a good way to go
You can't leave the company and you must do everything your
dispatcher tells you
but remember as an L/P you are going to see a lot of dispatchers come and go
and some are nice and some are arrogant twerps
and you must kiss their butt
Every single L/P is working as hard as possible to make money
(that's why companies love them)
so if you think you are a hard worker so you will rise above the rest ....think again

On the other hand if your goal is to pay off a leased truck and have no other financial obligations and just want to live in a truck for 3 years
then a L/P would work

I have been an o/o since 1978 (with a few short stints as a co. driver)
You have to like the challenge of owning a big money pit

It sounds to me like an L/P driver is just a co. driver with a payment then, right?

Neither is better at this time with freight levels this low.
Being successful at either isn't very feasible therefore being successful at something OTHER THAN trucking is better.

You too can make a small fortune in trucking, IF you start with a large one.
