Default OTR vs. jail

Times are tough with the economy and all, so it is important to weigh all decisions carefully. Thinking about getting into OTR trucking?? I think some of my research will surprise you. Here is how OTR trucking compares to going to prison.

1) OTR: You are kept in a 5' x 6' living space.
Jail: You are kept in a 8' x 10' living space.
WINNER: Though the view is often better with the OTR living space, plumbing makes jail the winner.

2) OTR: The food is horrible and expensive.
Jail: The food is horrible but free.
WINNER: jail.

3) OTR: You get home once a month but are too tired to make it with the wife.
Jail: Conjugal visits.
WINNER: jail.

4) Jail: You have to worry about guards and other prisoners.
OTR: You have to worry about cops, dispatchers, shippers, receivers, pedestrians, cars, lot lizards, etc.
WINNER: Jail. Much less to worry about.

5) Jail: Showers s*ck.
OTR: Showers s*ck.
WINNER: I much prefer an aggressive flesh eating fungus on my feet to gang rape, but this is still a push. (Push is a tie for non-blackjack players)

6) Jail: When you get released they give you a new suit.
OTR: When you get released they wreck you DAC just for the heck of it, put you in bankruptcy, and give you a crappy reference.
WINNER: Jail.

RESULTS: JAIL: 5 OTR: 0 TIE: 1

Well, do the results suprise you as much as they did me?? Looks like I will be searching for a nice non-violent crime to set myself up for the winter.

Good luck.

JAIL:When you get released you will have a record and be labeled an EX-CON. That will make it very hard to get a decent job for a very long time. It is very hard to get a record expunged.

OTR:Although they "MAY" wreck your DAC, you can dispute DAC and the likely hood of you winning the dispute is very high. Also, you will have "DOCUMENTED EXPERIENCE". The likely hood of getting a better job or even just another job are higher.

However, this means you are free to rob again until you get returned to all the free benefits.

That was in the past. Where have you been? I know of many guys working for half the "true" wages they worked for last year. When the economy recovers, the new truck laws will be in and Mexican trucks will have replaced many US truckers on the highways. Probably in the same trucks we no longer are allowed to operate!!!

Upon your release from Jail you become an OTR road driver because you have years of experience cause of the living space and the food.....

It all depends on your perspective.

Quote:

1) OTR: You are kept in a 5' x 6' living space.
Jail: You are kept in a 8' x 10' living space.
While OTR, you can leave your 5'X6' "cell" any time you wish.

Winner-OTR

Quote:
2) OTR: The food is horrible and expensive.
Jail: The food is horrible but free.
Jail food might be free, nut you eat what they give you. OTR, you can pick where you want to eat.

Winner-OTR

Quote:
3) OTR: You get home once a month but are too tired to make it with the wife.
Jail: Conjugal visits.
Only if you can get your woman to come see you. As you age, you'll find the sex is all that important. Sleep is.

Winner-OTR

Quote:
4) Jail: You have to worry about guards and other prisoners.
OTR: You have to worry about cops, dispatchers, shippers, receivers, pedestrians, cars, lot lizards, etc.
I've never had the cops, dispatchers, shippers, receivers, pedestrians, cars or lot lizards try to rape me. (Well, there was that one.... never mind)

Winner-OTR

Quote:
5) Jail: Showers s*ck.
OTR: Showers s*ck.
Once again, in jail you take a shower with a bunch of other guys when they tell you to. OTR, you can choose when and where and with how many people you take a shower. (Some even choose to not take a shower, that's no an option in jail)

Winner-OTR

Quote:
6) Jail: When you get released they give you a new suit.
OTR: When you get released they wreck you DAC just for the heck of it, put you in bankruptcy, and give you a crappy reference.
What years is this, 1945? When released for jail they give you the clothes you had on when you went in. At least with OTR you can decide if you want to leave them or not. You DAC can be challenged, jail record?? Nope.

See... it's all how you look at it.

No One ever gets LOCKED DOWN in a Truck and one can sleep whenever one can without a roomy. WINNER = OTR.

Quote:
2) OTR: The food is horrible and expensive.
Jail: The food is horrible but free.
WINNER: jail.
Food is horrible if you're stupid. Stock up BEFORE leaving and eat out once in a while. WINNER = OTR.

Quote:
3) OTR: You get home once a month but are too tired to make it with the wife.
Jail: Conjugal visits.
WINNER: jail.
If you're THAT tired maybe a divorce is a consideration.
In jail ones conjugal visits can be from ones cell mate or another cell mate especially when all soaped up. WINNER = OTR.

Quote:
4) Jail: You have to worry about guards and other prisoners.
OTR: You have to worry about cops, dispatchers, shippers, receivers, pedestrians, cars, lot lizards, etc.
WINNER: Jail. Much less to worry about.
Jail: one has to be concerned about EVERYONE.
OTR: One can stop wherever one wants or leave when one wants. One has the FREEDOM to move around unlike in Jail.
WINNER = OTR.

Quote:
5) Jail: Showers s*ck.
OTR: Showers s*ck.
WINNER: I much prefer an aggressive flesh eating fungus on my feet to gang rape, but this is still a push. (Push is a tie for non-blackjack players)
Jail: Maybe the sucky part is because YOU'RE IN PRISON!!
OTR: Showers can be sprayed BEFORE USING with Lysol or haven't you factored such in? WINNER = OTR.

Quote:
6) Jail: When you get released they give you a new suit.
OTR: When you get released they wreck you DAC just for the heck of it, put you in bankruptcy, and give you a crappy reference.
WINNER: Jail.
AS stated already, your new suit is the clothes you traded when initially incarcerated. They WILL SEEM NEW then. When released you have a whole new outlook on Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness or maybe you just want that cute guy on that Harley.
OTR: When one is released from employment or releases oneself, one has the ability to not be confused with A FELON!!
WINNER = OTR.

RESULTS: JAIL: 5 OTR: 0 TIE: 1

My results: OTR = 6, Jail = 0.

If you're still interested in going to Prison then learn Spanish, Italian, Swahili and Arabic so as not to stand out in the crowd.
