Default Getting my motorcycle shipped

I have contacted a couple of companies and the cost of shipping my motorcycle to me is more than I can afford (quoted about $750). I am working in Marysville, Ca until late June and thought maybe I could find an independent trucker who was coming my way from Harpersville, AL (30 miles from B'ham) with extra room in his load. For someone unfamiliar with transporting a motorcycle, there are certain things to consider, such as a need to compress the front forks at least halfway but not all the way and also the rear forks some too. As well, I would require that the carrier have insurance. I realize I would be lucky to find someone running close to this route giving me a really good price, but it can't hurt to ask, so here I am. Feel free to move this post to a more appropriate area if needed. Thanks. Oh, I forgot. It's a 2006 Yamaha Roadliner with a windshield and weighs about 750# wet.

Know nothing about it, so do not know whether it is a good idea, but you may try to find someone, who will ride it for you. With nice weather it may be life time memory occasion for someone.

It is a little bit different for several reasons, but on craigslist you can find people offering drive your car/truck for free if they going in that direction.

May be someone from this forum would be happy to jump in.
May be a little bit risky, so consider everything.

I hadn't thought about checking Craigslist, Thanks. I have posted on my motorcycle forums for someone to deliver it by riding in exchange for the fun of doing so, but no takers so far and there is some risk in that which concerns me.

Yeah, I thought about motorcycle forums too. It is strange from my point of view nobody would like to ride it.

Yes, there is some risk and tear/wear/mileage in this case.
