Angry A-1 trucking in gulfport MS

I'd like to know if anyone in south miss,AL or LA has any dealings with the crooked operations of this company. After 5 months of working at this place with 4 total weeks of broken down equipment and hotels that wont be repaid...they expect you to sleep in a brokendown truck in a tow yard.., service calls that drivers pay and every excuse is made not to riemburse, get a run from gulfport MS to blackwell OK make the delivery in 18 hours inc 5 hours sleep,be one hour hour late and docked 100 bucks! When 2 tires blow out and call the shop and once you get to the terminal your canned...does anyone else see a company thats asking to be shutdown! and all this for .27 cent a mile! This is the worst job period Ive ever held thats also a bondsman and treat their drivers less than dirt. I ask all potentential driver thinking of working for this company to rethink thier decision!! I made my move to the coast with the unfortunate verbal promise of a good job and all it did was run my bank accounts into the ground.

What did you do to deserve such treatment?
Lease to own?

Since I've NEVER owned a Tractor, I've NEVER paid for ANY repairs or Fuel, Tires, etc., for ANY employer nor shall I ever do such unless I'm given the cash or card BEFORE I leave a terminal.
Possession is 9/10ths of the LAW and I would just hold onto their equipment until settlements are secured.
File against their Bond and/or whatever it takes.

I did not own the tractor and all the trailers were crowley containers, thats all they hauled. There was one time when I picked up a 53" container and 2 hours later when I could find the nearest scale I was 87000 GVWR! called the "man" and said just to get it to Jacksonville, it was picked up 35 miles S. of Atlanta..I dont know how I even made the greenlight at the FL scale with trailer tandems at 42500! When you are out of hours and legally need to stop....his logo is "you can sleep when you get home". I mentioned that I was out of hours one time and he said "I can get someone else in that truck you know..." This is the most crooked company I've ever worked for or have heard of. I would try to go back north, but midstates express has bankrupted and jobs in LTL are getting more and more scarce.

i also got to question you on an item or two, or three.......

how many years driving experience do you have..??

even a driver with AT LEAST 1 year knows NOT to be pushed around like this. for you to pay out of pocket for their truck was your mistake, when you did it the first time.

as a "seasoned" driver, you should have known better to get approval for a motel room which would have included phone calls and the person's name authorizing the motel.

i find it hard to believe the company "docked" you $100 for being late, unless you are working on the gross cost of the load, or on some sort of "commission" salary.......

and the tires blowing out.......did you run over something..?? were the tires on the same axle, or on the same side of the rig..?? indicating you ran over something..??

i think there is more, MUCH MORE to your story then you are telling us. and that starts with YOU the person/driver.

are you a newbie, do you get intimidated easily, don't you yourself reconize a problem company and not leave sooner..??

and (i think) finally, you claim the company also is a "bondsman" (?).......

are you a former convict..??

and if not, are you that ignorant to "verbal promises"...???

if so....i think some of us here would be thinking, you're not too sharp when it comes to looking into a potential company for hire.

i just pulled up a SafeStat report on this company, they have a very high defeciency rating in drivers,

Driver SEA Value: 93.07

the higher the number, the worse it is........

"SafeStat uses available federal motor carrier safety data to measure the relative safety status of motor carriers in four Safety Evaluation Areas (SEAs): Accident, Driver, Vehicle and Safety Management. SEA values range between (0-best to 100-worst) and are calculated for carriers with sufficient safety data related to each SEA."

so with a driver rating of 93 %, you can see where the drivers aren't the best to even begin with.

now, out of 18 power units/drivers, there are at least 78.5% of those drivers that got fined for one reason or another.

out of 18 power units.....15 were put out of service.......

------------------------------------------------------------

i guess you need to do MORE HOMEWORK in the future regarding who you go to work for........

I have 7 years of driving tractor/trailer and straight truck and never even blew out one tire, I assume that one went it took the other with it on the same axle. When I drove to the coast to look for work before my move I had no idea of the type of business I was to work for, the trucks are 05 International 9000's with condo sleepers lots of chrome and lights, not the best truck out there but they looked nice and clean. When it came to breakdowns and the motel, I either did that or slept in a waffle house...I'm shure I'd be asked to leave and grassy area by the nearby creek didnt seem right either. Out of respect they should've paid that for me but refused. They run 2 business out of one building a trucking co. and a bailbonds...they had a new driver hired a week before I was canned and he was sent up to Ft. Worth..he disapeared for 2 days and the truck was found in a motel parking lot in Ft Worth with 6 tires/rims gone and the fridge ripped out and and he was in the motel with a hooker high on meth..he already had a felony record. I had no idea of this company's background since I was 1200 miles away looking for a decent job in the new area I was moving to. I have plenty of driving expierience but I guess I lack it when sniffing out human moral!!
