| | I am not a truckdriver, but I am looking for a barter with one!
I know, I'm sorry. I'm not a driver, although I think you guys are way cool. My name is because I like to move around a lot. I worked for an airline for many years and was able to satisfy my wanderlust that way, but now I have kids and am a full time Mom. I am also a photographer. I am trying to move from Arizona to Florida, sometime before the end of Summer. Uhaul is insanely expensive and not a very efficient way of doing things. We have a small house and not much stuff though. I was hoping maybe, if I could find someone who is already deadheading, or driving home, or just has some extra space or something, maybe I could work out a deal... Maybe I could do your family photos. I'm sure they'd be great to have on the road. Or maybe I could pay for the space I use? My photography packages are a few hundred dollars, so if I could barter with someone for space that would otherwise be empty, that would be awesome. And I'm flexible on the timing as well. Would anyone be interested? I hope this is ok to post here, I wasn't sure, but I thought I'd give it a shot. If anyone has any other ideas how I can get this done, please advise me! Is anyone out there resourceful? Thanks!!! =-) | | | |

you might be best suited to call and check on the prices ABF charges for this type of move. ABF can be found in most yellow pages under, "trucking". then too, try some other moving van lines outfits. some need "back hauls", meaning they may already be in your area, and need to get back. in fact, i do believe, Old Dominian also does this.

They bring a trailer to you and drop it in front of your house. You load the trailer and the they pick it up and drop it at your new house. You unload the trailer.
You can ask about "U-PACK" in the ABF Fourm here: http://www.truckingboards.com/trucki...reight-system/ |

You can also check out uship.com as it is an online marketplace putting people like you in touch with those willing to do it.

But before R+L did the move it yourself type moves. I used ABF to go from Jacksonville FL to Las Vegas. cost was cheaper then U Haul. R+L and ABF do it almost the same way. Will drop a pup trailer in your driveway. I believe ABF use a pod type box now. U pack it they pick it up. They check to see how much space you use. And charge you for that space. It can be more or less then your quote. Drop it at your new place. Give your two days to unload it. It may be hard to fine an IND Driver to put it on his trailer. Like was was wrote. Fuel cost. The more he has on his trailer the more fuel he wil use. Good luck in your move.

Thanks to all of you! I will be looking into all of the options you've suggested. I didn't even know where to begin. You've been very helpful!
