Exclamation Attn: Current or ex-covenant drivers

My name is Jason DeWitt. I am a private detective in Walnut Creek (SF Bay Area) working for the family of a young man that was killed in an accident on April 20, 2009 at the 205E/580E split near Tracy, CA. 4 young children and a wife no longer have their dad/husband.

The newspaper article regarding the accident can be found here: Concord motorcyclist dies when big rig cuts across freeways in Alameda County - ContraCostaTimes.com

The trucking company was Covenant Transport. During my research of the company I have come across information which tends to show that Covenant has a high driver turnover rate. It also suggests that Covenant might use an excessively high number of new/trainee drivers.

I decided it would be best to ask you guys, the people that really know what is going on.

If anyone can please help me with this, I would really appreciate it. I don't want you to rat out fellow drivers, but I would like to know from Covenant and ex-Covenant drivers how they feel about the company and the way they were treated.

Thanks very much in advance!

Your not going to hear many positives about this company. They used to employ many rookies and were trained by drivers with little time on the road, I'm now retired but a few years ago the truck load carriers had a turnover rate of 75 % and higher. You might want to look at RIP Off .com.

"private eye" or not, you're going to end up getting what is commonly known as "sour grapes" when you deal with almost any former trucker from any trucking company. you'll also get "sour grapes" from just about ANY EMPLOYEE that worked at ANY PLACE, here in america..........

so, tell me.........you don't know this "fact"..........???

a quote from the story

Quote:
The rig driver was not taken into custody, but faces possible criminal charges once an investigation into the fatal accident is complete, Creel said."
seems to me at least, the law will take matters as they should. i think you are no doubt a "private eye" that works in conjuction with a lawyer.........who are you kidding.......??

the driver, if found guilty should be enough for any lawsuit happy "private eye" or law firm.............which you get, from the 3rd the law firm gets..............

oh and by the way.............its also POSSIBLE the truck driver may have suffered some sort of medical problem.

He was asking about a specific company and i told him my opinion . So what if he's a private detective working for a law firm, at least he works. People knock lawyers but when they get in trouble them hypocrites head for a law firm.

I appreciate your response. I am sure I might get some sour grapes replies, but maybe some are for good reason. I do my best to weed out who has an agenda and who is sincerely stating their experiences. That's one of the things I get paid to do, and I gotta start somewhere, right?

Of course I know that the driver might face criminal charges: that is HOW BAD the act was according to the CHP and the witnesses I have interviewed state it was. It was egregious behavior to try and cut some time down, and it cost a father of 4 his life.

Of course I am working for a lawyer...two actually. If someone acted completely recklessly and without care for anyone around him, and killed you: wouldnt you want your family to be taken care of? Alot of lawyers get a bad rap, and many for good reasons. I am not going to defend lawyers, but I will defend Herb's widow and kids.

You could go on and on speculating about possibilities. There is no indication of any medical condition or that it was anything other than piss-poor judgement perhaps fueled by inexperience.

If Covenant is a good company with good training and policies then I would like to hear that. If it is not, I would like to hear that as well. That is why I asked for both current and ex employees to please respond.

Please dont prejudge me, and I will try not to do the same with you.

Thanks,
Jason
