Default Tractor and trailers

Hey, i am thinking about going to get my CDL and I am looking into driving a tractor and trailer locally.. I live in Eastern, TN (near the city of knoxvile) and lifting boxes and crates are not a problem as long as they weight below 250 lbs..

Any recommended companies??

and the starting out hourly rate??

Also, how much would I make after 3 or 4 years??

starting pay, any where's form $12.00 to 20.00 per hour.

how much after 3 to 4 years.......??

probably about $15 to $25.00 per hour.

then i can almost certainly guarantee you, you ain't gonna wannbe lifting heavy freight..........

i can't recommend any companies in YOUR area, because with the unemployment situation being the way it is now, you'll probably end up going long haul (OTR)..........

not untill i had to look up your past...............

now you wannabe a local driver........??

i thought your questions regarding pay WAS ANSWERED BACK THEN.......??

if so, the pay scale ain't changed much since about a week ago..........

Quote:

long haul salary my 1st year (average)

long haul salary my 2nd year (average)

long haul salary my 3rd year (average)

long haul salary my 4th-5th year (average)

how many hours of sleep would I get on most days

what type of tralier pays the most per mile, and how much

What would my hourly rate be my 1st,2nd, and 3rd if i decided to drive a local tractor and trailer

What would my hourly rate be my 1st,2nd, and 3rd if i decided to drive a local medium or heavy truck

What company should I start out with
wait about another week, then you MIGHT get to hear the answers YOU WANT........

and not always (local drivers getting overtime), some companies pay straight time for all hours. some companies that are union, pay either after 40 hours or after 8 hours. some companies NOT union, but pay near union scale, "might" pay OT........its a crap shoot regarding over time....

If lifting boxes is what trips your trigger, get your license and go to a foodservice company, its very rewarding work with good pay, home every night or every other, depending on who you hook up with, some will keep you out all week, PFG, broadline you will be home every night, if your young go for this line of work, you will enjoy it I guarentee you, unless your the lazy type then foodservice isn't for you, its good honest hard work, and the pay is above average! Good luck to ya, do some research on the internet, PFG, US Foodservice, Gordon, ect.
