Question about Reefers vs. Dry Vans and OTR vs. Regional

Sorry for the ignorance, but...

As a new student developing a list of potential employers I want to find companies that operate nationally and do a significant share of their business hauling long distances, like coast-to-coast. I'm not very interested in driving only in 10-12 states or seeing the same docks over and over.

However, I also (think) that I want a company that has a primarily reefer fleet because, by most accounts, the available miles are better.

Are these two goals incompatible? Are reefers frequently used for criss-crossing the nation or are they primarily used for regional or short-range jobs?

Can anyone recommend a company that tends to match that profile?

I'm not very interested in seeing the same docks over and over.

Dedicated are PREFERRED by many of US especially if the mileage is at least 1,000 one way.
