Default Company policy on correcting log books

My company requires its drivers so turn in their daily logs on a weekly basis. Once the daily logs are turned in the log book lady enters them into some type of computer program that keeps up with everything and I guess generates a report on any logs that have errors.

The company policy then is to notify the driver of the error and have the driver correct the error. This normally envolves completely rewriting the log.

I was just curious as to how other companies go about this and if this sounds legit. Seems to me that once the log is turned in that should be the end of it.

I am sure that the company is making sure there are no errors for any D.O.T. audit that may be coming.

Thanks,

73's

are these errors just mathematical or are they saying to change what you say you were doing at the time?

our company will have us correct things we may have omitted, such as miles driven, failure to total the lines or hours recap. we have never been asked to redo a log.

They are for all different reasons. Total mileage omitted, fuel stops on wrong days, 14 hour violations, not logging drug screens, you name it really. They make sure that anything that the D.O.T. could cross reference is there. Regardless if it was there on the original log or not.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Ours are given back to us with a sticky note of the correction(s) needed (If you screw it up she will catch it). We change - or fill in if we left it blank and turn the same log back in except if it is a Friday log it must be re-done (they mail them to a third party company on Monday). We are home daily so we turn in a log everyday. This is one Con-way terminal does it anyway. I have had speeding violations on my log and was told to fix it. It turned out I logged a punch wrong or something.

Your company seems to do it about the same. Sounds OK to me..

Thanks,
I agree with jake, if they are not asking you to add or take away anything that you actually were doing, they are totally fine.
