Default O/O...who is the best company to pull freight for?

ok so Im basically just being lazy and not searching really. But in my previous post I asked about lease to own and I got alot of great info and sad to see that companies still take advantage of idiots like me...anyway...so Im gonna purchase my own truck, who is the best company out there to haul freight for? Ive been looking at alot of different companies but I figured Id actually get it straight from the guys who actually do the work instead of what a dispatcher can "promise" but not back up.

with the bad credit you stated in your original posting, i guess you didn't get any thing i said either.

hope you got at least "up to" 30% cash for a down payment, and at least 6 months salary in the bank to back you up.

can i venure to guess that i'll be seeing your rig in one of those "trucks for sale" magazines at the truck stops soon....??

you say you were basically relagated to the loading dock, due to the city guys taking the runs....??

that's indeed too bad..........

but you're not o/o savvy, and with bad credit.............??????

oh well.............

you think you're in the "stink" now.......at your current situation...???

even the "best" companies are going to do a credit check on you. PLUS, you are an UNKNOWN quality right now.

Im doing some homework and asking you guys who walked in my shoes before I actually do this

i really am glad you heard all of us guys LOUD AND CLEARLY. it is very good you are repairing your credit. as for a cabover, (or any truck) make sure it passes a DOT inspection. then have a mechanic check (engine compression), but then too, a truck that old, can be in need of repairs real soon.

best of luck to you, keep us informed.

The problem you're gonna have with a 1998 truck is no one is going to be willing to lease it on. Most "big" companies want 3 yr or newer equipment for the simple fact that they have to be able to trust that your truck is not gonna break down and cost them a load or worse yet a customer. In this day and age of trucking the only way companies can get "new" customers is PROMISE on time service and if you/they can't be on time they will lose that customer. I hate to pour salt in your wounds and wish you luck but i think your gonna be alot better off trying to get a driving job for a while and put the O/O idea on the back burner. I am a O/O myself and its real "TOUGH" right now.

There are a few options with an older truck. Some companies will lease it on as long as it is in good shape. Check with Landstar. I've never talked to an O/O who was unhappy with them. You can also pull containers. This has the advantage of being home most nights.
Get a good tax man right away and listen to him.
