Default I need help on finding a Company Job

I've tried to find a driving job for the last month or so and I am frustrated a thought that I would ask you guys for some answers.

Story:

I have not driven since Sept/2001 and I am looking to get back into trucking. I live out of Orlando, Fl and I am having a very hard time looking for a company that will hire me. Every company I have called will not touch me without 3 months experience in the last 3 years. Except 2 (CR England, Prime Inc.) but these 2 companies will not hire out of Florida Im willing to move to Georgia or Alabama. Are these 2 companies the only chance I have to get back in to the trucking industry?

Is there another option? Please HELP

I know how difficult it is to get employment without great job references these days. You may want to consider outsourcing your job references to give yourself a edge.

good luck!

kentish, I'm in the same exact boat as you, but the last time I drove a semi was early 2003. I've been trying to get back into it for 2 years with very little success and like you, CR is just about the only one that would take me. After hearing so many bad things about them, I just don't know what to do anymore.
My driving record is spotless and I've received safety awards and nothing's helping. It's just such a bad time right now for everyone.
I'm willing to relocate also and go through the retraining period, but no one's giving me the shot.
I know this isn't much help to you, but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone.
Good luck, Gator
p.s. post something if you find anything...thanks

Try getting on the dock for some LTL companies, a few are starting to accept apps right now if not hiring. You can go through their training and get back on the road...may I recommend Old Dominion?

Kentish, got some info for ya...talked to a Swift recruiter and they said they would take me on. Here's the skinny: 42 days with a mentor(trainer), average 2500-3000 miles a week( i questioned that due to the economy and she assured me of that), if you don't want to travel the whole U.S., they have "comfort zones" in which you cover a certain area closer to home. You can qualify for a comfort zone after 30 days solo.
I know Swift isn't the greatest, but if you really want back in, give them a shot. They sound better than CR England...Gator
