cheap meaning not covering your costs with a little profit built in. time will tell. somethings going to have to give in the near future, both in the ltl and tl business, the over capacity is killing everyone, don't know who will be gone in the future, but it could be a real surprise.

back in 2000 when fuel went up to "hold on to your shirt" $2 a gallon companies were dropping like flies. everyday you got on the computer you read about a few more going bye bye.

the banks can't hold on to a loosing company forever. once one goes i think the barn door will open and other banks won't have any choice but to follow.

The race to the bottom is a real problem with all of trucking. Be it cheap freight, or drivers willing to work for nothing. If truckers are ever paid their true value or for all their time the price of goods and services would be unaffordable! By truckers, I mean the one's that keep the left door closed and do the job,not the one's that only haul there @$$ to the buffet at the Truckstop! Say no to cheap freight and company drivers don't give away your time!

IF every company stopped hauling cheap freight, there would definitely be some real changes implemented, yet it'll never happen because too many Drivers will accept the cheap stuff just to get closer or to the house therefore the cheap stuff will remain since it IS a commodity being pursued.

It certainly HELPS LOWER THE QUALITY of Trucking yet it isn't to disappear if/when at all.

Cheap hauls is only ONE in a series of insults and aggravations to Trucking.

There are these as well: the B.M.I. Index, the Sleep Apnea stuff, the NO PARKING or IDLING rules/laws as well as Minnesota with Indiana and their Fatigue List garbage.

You are correct, I can definately see the temptation to haul a load that doesn't pay just to cut your losses and get you either closer to home or to a location that will get you a better paying load.
