Default New driver home time?

I started driving last Aug with Werner. I really liked the company and the job. What I didnt really like is spending 3 weeks away from home every night in the stupid box alone. Then around Christmas a death in the family and some other personal issues got to be a little to much for me and I did go back out.

Well I am thinking about giving it another try. I did really like the job. But I think it would be a lot better if I could find a company that could get me home every weekend. So I am asking around a few place if anyone knows of a good company that could get me home more often. I live in the Detroit area so if anyone knows of a company like that hiring around here let me know.

Or is their no chance of someone with as little experience as I have find a job like that?

I was looking into Falcon but I cant find much on them. From what I understand they get you home most weekends. Anyone know if that is true??

I know you hate to hear this, but is there a chance Werner will hire you back?
Quitting after 4 months is not going to look good on an application.
The type of job you want is the same job that guys with years of experience are competing for and they will get the nod ahead of you when there is an opening.
If you could stomach a year or two with Werner, to establish your experience, it will open more doors in the future.
None of us out here got that good job overnight and a lot of guys never get that good job because they weren't in the right place at the right time.
It's not easy, but you have to build a foundation before you can advance and you have to be patient. And you really have to want it.
One more thing, and I'm not trying to be mean, but I've heard that Detroit doesn't exactly have a developing economy right now. My company has job openings right now that will get you home twice a week, but you have to be experienced and willing to move to TX or OK. Sometimes there are no easy answers.

US Xpress got me home every other weekend, but I don't know how easily you could get in there, and they'll make you do training all over again due to your experience level (I also had 4 months going in). Swift, JB, and Schneider will probably also take you if they have an opening, but realize for all intents and purposes that you are starting over from scratch. get a year or two then you'll be good to go for the every weekend home thing. Hell, keep your eyes open, you might find a good local job before then, but I wouldn't count on it.

Its pretty simple. You have to put in your time, we all did. Not to be mean, but man up, get your 2 years in, then start looking.

Many smaller Cement Mixer concerns do not seem to care about driving experience and usually have shoddy equipment coupled with low pay yet these places are good for experience because when one can operate junk effectively, one will excel at a better company with efficient equipment.
Local Mud truck, Bucket truck, LTL, etc., driving time does NOT CROSS OVER to OTR requirements however OTR time crosses over to Local, so go figure.
