| | Flying J closing restaurants A local Board I frequent, I read where one of the Members wrote that Flying J was closing their Restaurants.
Should this be true, a Truckstop is only a Truckstop because it sells Diesel Fuel, and no other reason.
We will be going back to the days of a cinder block stall, no door, out back with a faucet about 5 feet off the pavement, and a coffee machine the roaches have completely taken over.
Anybody remember "The Big Wheel" in Virginia?

Anybody remember "The Big Wheel" in Virginia? | i "seem" to remember the "big wheel", but only vaugly.(sp?)
as for the flying j to close the restaraunts. i didn't hear this "rumor", but i will tell you this, if true, then the restaraunts may be closing, but i'm sure they wiil re-open as "fast food places", like many are now.
so let's all give a big "thank you" for no real "dinning pleasure".......but hey, no tipping, not much waiting times, quick turn-a-rounds out the place, rather than someone buying only a cup of coffee, and God forbid, take up a booth when the restaraunt is empty..and the waitress has to walk ALL THE WAY over to you.........!!! QUICK UPDATE.........!!!
well little buddy (but you could be 6'6" and 300 lbs..!! j/k)
i had to dig deeper, and sadly, i found out, it ain't no rumor.
here are some links regarding flying j restaraunts.... http://www.standard.net/live/news/176760 http://www.kwtx.com/money/headlines/48928912.html http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...staurants.html http://www.cspnet.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?tier=4&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&sid=&AudID=8D2273B133A14EB6903E0EECCBC32777&nm=&id=D819D640A0A94EF281F198A72345EAAA&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle |

Peelot doesn't like restaurants and prefers the fast food joints.
Thank you peelot for destroying another truckstop chain like you did with the Williams line AND for helping to increase the amount of unemployed people.
NOW there are only the Pietro and t.a. slop houses remaining along with of course the few Mom-n-Pop stops and the when located available Truck parking non chain restaurants.
Just remember to not park here, not park there, no idling anywhere and to enjoy the ty experiences that only Trucking now affords, along with the other mandates, rules and regulations, and the other stipulations as yet to be introduced.

Maybe we ought to find some other line of work and let the frito banditos from south of the border have this gig. That way it'll be another job Americans dont want to do, and make the politicians happy.
You can bet the care-bears are idling thier patrol cars while sitting there on OT, watching out for the road workers, because of all the nutball car drivers that get thier DL's out of a crakerjack box, speed through the work-zones.
We drivers, we can sweat to the oldies and freeze up like frosty the snowman, as long as we get that load there on time. If only we really did have a nationwide driver shutdown, now that would be something to tell the grandkids about.

| | I found another line of work yet I'm still in freight relocation and operating (driving?) a truck of sorts.
I'm working in a Warehouse, actually a D. C., pulling orders, loading Trailers and relocating stock. I'm operating a Slip Sheet Lift.
It pays a lot less than OTR however it is only 15 minutes from the pillows and I need no medical card, twic or haz/mat.
The next License will be the Forklift Certification given by the company at some point.

Ive heard the rumor also, but I think it is more people assuming this is going to happen because of pilot buying them out. Just keep in mind that this "rumor" may be a lot like the bull you hear on channel 19 with about a 5% chance that it is actually true
