Default Getting Snubbed

I took the initiative after driving Class B CDL for 20 years hauling hazmat to get my Class A CDL. I graduated last month and have received the Class A with tanker and hazmat.

I thought it was a good idea to go ahead and pay for the training and license myself and then go into a starting company. WRONG! It seems that most of these newbie company's want someone to attend "their" school so they can garnish your wages with interest from your pay check.

I understand their thinking from a company stand point dollars wise but come on! It's frustrating to say the least from my side of the fence.

So here I set with a shiny new Class A CDL and trying to get a hire but since I'm not a Cash Cow entering their company they just look elsewhere.

Sucks to be me, LOL !

Well shooter, for one, the fact that you don't have semi experience will hurt you, but on the other hand, you have hazmat experience that could help you.
I recommend going thru the companies training because training never hurts, it only makes you a better driver in most cases and no company is gonna put you in their big truck without you proving you're safe to be cut loose on your own.
Good Luck....

I absolutely want to be sent out with a trainer at any company I go to work for. My point is these company's don't have as much interest in someone coming into their domain already having obtained their CDL.

Case and point of one of many company's is Central Refrigerated. They sent me a pre-hire so I called them to schedule orientation. Once I told them I already have my CDL A he quickly rebutted their offer saying they are only accepting students with no CDL in their posession. I did notate on my application that I already had my license so he just said they must have sent me the pre-hire by mistake.

Interesting, I thought I heard there were a couple companies out there that want you to go through their schools before getting hired, but that's pretty ridiculous if you just finished with an accredited school and have your CDL A in hand.
I did what you did back in 2000 and went to a trucking school not affiliated with any company, but I had no problem what's so ever getting hired after that.
Keep looking, the companies that will hire you are out there.
