Default There will be a shortage of 100,ooo drivers.....

Anyone remember that BS line??

That was just a few years ago, claiming that by 2010 the country would see the greatest shortage of drivers ever.

What a bunch of . Lobbyist for the trucking companies and I will include the A.T.A. in that list.

Flat out lies.

Now they want to increase the length and the weight that trucks can carry. Hell, I thought they're saying that there's an overcapacity problem now. Too many trucks, not enough freight. Why the hell do we need to increase the weight and length?? YEA, thats right, more profit for these greedy bastards. Less drivers, more unemployment but more money in the pockets of these MONEY worshipping motherfu___ers.

The economy took a is why that figure is not true. Though, I am willing to bet the industry wouldn't have been 100k short whether the economy was good or not. I don't care if they increase the legal limits or not. I pull over 53 ft of pups most nights anyway. The gross weight increase would only make it easier for my ******** o/b supervisor to understand anyway. He still thinks you can pull extra weight on a set of logistics pups with a tandem anyway.

I was laughing my head off when I first heard this. There might have been a shortage of safe, professional long time drivers back then, but not now. 97,000 lbs and 60 ft? Yeah that will give the road crews more potholes to fill.
