Default ACLU Briefing on drug testing

Disclaimer: I do not promote illegal drug, alcohol or anything else that impairs driving.

I do support rights of innocent drivers that have been punished due to false accusations of modern drug testing.

One innocent person punished wrongfully is one innocent person too many!

Here is a letter from American Civil Liberties Union:

Drugs and trucking do not mix and those that take drugs and drive a truck should be hung up by their balls

I would like to throw drinking in there, too. Alcohol does it's damages too. I am yet to see an alcoholic functioning normally when they are sober. Many have health issues and are a hazard on the road even when sober.

It would seem to me that if I flunked a drug test, and I was not doing illegal drugs, I would be getting a 2nd test and maybe even a blood test too. I have no problem with employers testing their workers if they so desire. I wouldnt want drug users working for me either.

Its funny how the ACLU fights for certain rights and not for others. I wonder why they refuse to fight for 2nd amendment rights? They seem to miss that one in the constitution for some reason...

There needs to be some sort of back up for urine testing. Currently there is not one. In many cases one is not permitted to take a blood test in lieu of urine. One is quickly presumed guilty and very seldom can prove innocence.

Just because you go and get independent blood test, it does not obligate your employer to honor it.

Urine test may have been done on contaminated equipment. Re-testing contaminated sample will produce the same results.

Drug testing requires major revisions. One innocent person fired from a job, is one too many.
