Default Question on being overweight

If you are driving a company vehicle and it's overweight . Who is responsible for the fine . You are the company . ie the dispatcher knows your overweight but tells you to take it anyway .
Going down south tomorrow with an overweight class B straight truck . I know we will have fun in Va scales .

If the truck is overloaded and you know it, you could be in a world of hurt if someone gets hurt in an accident involving you. But if you're not inclined to say no to the boss, at least get management to acknowledge responsibility (preferably in writing)

If you don't feel safe don't take the load.

if you are at a truckstop and you scale out the load, call dispatch. many times you might be told one of two things.....

1) go back and have them re-work the load

2) run with it, the company will pay the fines, just be sure you get the dispatchers name and time and date.

now, if you DO NOT make that call, and you accept the load.............its ON YOU, the PROFESSIONAL truck driver.

also too, be sure you have your tires PROPERLY inflated, use an air gauge.....

you DO NOT want to heat up an under-inflated tire..........

Have your supervisor check off on the owners responsiblity form for overwieght loads. If not, refuse it and document it all for your attorney when they let you go to thr unemployment board.

I've hauled overweight loads in straight trucks and was told by the company (shipper) that ALL OVERWEIGHT FINES WERE PAID BY THEM.
I got stopped in VA on N.B. I-77 between the holes and was given an overweight ticket which I turned in at the junk yard. It went away.

Now if you do not get such a declaration and you do not notify anyone and haul it anyway, the fine is then YOUR PROBLEM.
