Default Generator vs idleling

What are the thoughts of having a gas generator to keep you warm instead of keeping your truck running?

well first and foremost............

where are you going to store the GASOLINE...........???

next.........

where will you store the generator..........??

you KNOW you'll NEED to exhaust the unit.....right.............???

put it on the back of your rig..........??

it MIGHT be GONE when you wake up in the morning..........!!!

best to get a bunk warmer (like an electric blanket) or some other bunk heater, like Webasto (??) or something like that..........

if you're a company driver, well you're pretty much S.O.L.............

but then again, if you're a company driver, the company KNOWS you NEED heat and A/C for DRIVER COMFORT.........

if you're an O/O, the dish out some bucks and GET A REAL APU..........

the re-sale value alone makes it worth the extra cash NOW.....

oh yeah...........

i saw that video as well...............

i cannot ever imagine the INCONVIENENCE of moving that A/C in the window, as the video showed, the fool dropped it out of the window at least once. can you imagine the hottest, muggiest days of the summer, and you drop your A/C and now you're screwed because its totally destroyed..........????

then comes the "smallness factor" of being inside that truck, with all that crap taking up space...........

now.............if he and the wife are "typical rednecks"

i'll betcha the washer/drier are on the back catwalk too.............!!!

I like that security cable tie down. No one will move the unit now eh?!
All they need now are those Windscreen light blocker panels and not to drop the A.C. unit anymore.

The A.C. unit will be real handy in the Winter as well as getting out in low temps (whether or not raining, icy, snowy) to plug up the Generator, provided the security feature isn't compromised.

I hope they don't get to cauliflower, floriduh, etc. anytime soon as I'm sure there's some air quality problem with a generator being used in such fashion.

Other Redneck ideas:

roflmfao! I was waiting for some good come backs to that video lol. Yea I mean it's a good idea and a bad one the A/C I would not do. But I have seen people run generators at truck stops to run their sat. TV, computer, etc. (If I can recall it was Allied or some company's O/O) Alright that's my 3 cents. Good luck finding a solution Slimer.

thanks for the replies.

I wanted to get a general consensus.
The truck I am going to drive already has the generator hooked up. The Gas tank is mounted behind and under the glad handles. The generator is placed under the passenger steps. Locked. I do have to open the steps to pull the rope. Hopefully it will work in severe cold whether.
AC, microwave TV computer etc... . are connected.
The heater is a walmart utility heater that is 7500 to 15000 watts. That also will be connected.
The owner of this truck wants the truck resting once I am resting. The fuel cost is not his worry, it is the ware and tear on the engine.
I am thinking I am going to have to gas up everyday this generator. I think it is a ten gallon tank. How many hours ten gallons work? I will take pictures of it once I get a chance.
