Hi all I'm not sure I'm in the right place or not. Although I'm a truck driver I'm only a local driver and don't know the industry that well.
My son is wanting to start a business. He found sources for the items he wants to sell but the freight quotes are from the manufacturer and they seem high to me. A friend of mine is in Washington State and he gets goods from CT and he says he pays 235.00 for a skid from CT to WA.
One quote he got from a manufacturer was for 389.00. This is for a skid with total weight of 450 lbs consisting of 15 boxes. The item is plastic bottles. The FOB is AZ 85027 , the destination is NJ 08093(close to Philadelphia). The carrier that the manufacturer uses is Fed Ex freight.
From talking with people they are telling me I can get much better rate than 389.00.
So I was wondering if it is possible to get better rates than 389.00?
