Please Help Misty - my service dog

My best kid is in desperate need for a hip replacement. It is very costly and with being laid off and the economy we need your help. Misty is a wonderful dog and takes very good care of me. She deserves to be pain free. I have been trying everything possible to keep her comfortable and the meds and supplements are no longer working. If you can please help Misty get out of pain and get a new hip we would be extremely grateful. We love her and she is part of the family and seeing her in pain 24/7 is very hard to watch. She is only 7 and otherwise in perfect health.

Guys/ Gals this has been approved by Truckingboards and I am Sure anything you can do to help a very good Fellow Member and Driver would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,

First I want to Thank TB for their support. I am touched by my TB family here and the things they are willing to do to help a fellow member. It is truly amazing.

Just wanted to give more information. The surgery is $5500. I have $2000.00 that I managed to gather. I am still trying everything possible to gather the funds. I am doing a local fundraiser also. I'm working my tail off to help her.

I figured I would let you know a little about Misty. She is my diabetic service dog and companion. She has saved my life twice.

She was hit by a car when she was 2. That is why there is so much arthritis in her hip. Up until this year meds and supplements have helped her and she has been able to function. She is now 7 and the arthritis has deteriorated her bone and she is now bone on bone with any movement. Through my care she has been able to go this long without surgery. If there was any other way I would take it but unfortunately I have exhausted all other treatments. She is in constant pain and needs this to walk without pain.

Any help is a Godsend and a blessing.

The kindness of people online will amaze you. A few years ago my mother-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer and was given only a few weeks to live. This was before I was driving and we didn't have much money at all. I posted a plea for help on a political message board I frequented and within a day my wife had plane tickets, car rental and money for her AND her sister to fly from Illinois to California to be with her mother.

This was all from people I had never met and often argued with. It amazed me and I'm sure you'll be amazed too. Good luck and say hi to Misty for me!
