Well, I will answer my own question as far as the honesty of the recruiter goes. Seems I contacted this company a few months ago. They told me they don't generally hire where I live. End of story. Well, recently I saw one of their ads on the truckstop mags. So I check out their updated website. Says they hire/run in the state at least, where I live. So I call the recruiter to inquire. I state where I live, and that I would be willing to leave their truck in another city and commute if neccessary. " Oh, we hire drivers where you live, no problem." So I apply, send letters of reference and driving record. A few days pass, I call to find out. Recruiter say application is denied, I get some lame excuse, but nothing about because of where I live. Passes the buck to the operations manager. Ok, bye. I call back and speak to the operations manager. He is real dismissive of me, doesnt recognize my name..I inquire as to why my app was denied. I tell him who I am, he asks where I live. I tell him. Says "even if I get the best app I've ever seen, I would not hire from there, because its not an area where we load and unload". Geez, why cant the d2+@# recruiter tell me the straight story in the first place instead of lying to me and jerking me around?
