Default PRIMES 5 month unemployed rule??

After reading the good and bad about prime,
on another forum until my eyes started to bleed I gave them a call today. apparently I had applied to them last year and was good to go but they needed a reference, that I had given to them at the time. the reference was never contacted by them. but they said the reason they didn't follow through with my app. is because they couldn't contact me (because they never called) OK so were back in touch now but the problem now is that I haven't worked in over 5 months so they can't hire me. I was laid off mid august 08 my employer has to hold my spot for one year and call me in before they can hire to replace me. so I am still considered under there employment. My states UI considered me to be still under there employment awaiting a recall. well as of mid august 09 and no recall my spot was no longer mine and now I was unemployed. that was about 6 weeks ago. (not 5 months) But prime recruiter says they consider my employment to have ended the day I was laid off, and that they can not hire. Anyone run into this bs snafu with any other companies and if so please post them so I can skip the research on the company. thx

usually when a person is unemployed all one has to do is provide proof of such, like photo copied of the unemployment checks, or a print out of the checks the sent you.

as of right now, other than "lifetime bans" on criminal pasts that SOME companies have, i have NOT heard of refusing employment due to a person being unemployed. you MAY HAVE TO attend SOME trucking school for a refreher course. i'd call them back and ask if you go through that, will they hire you. but then again, a recruiter can tell you just about anything.

i'm sure others will chime in when they can. till then, maybe you should do some research yourself while you can.

I thought prime hired anyone that could stand up without a walker regardless of their background.

Well I could understand if it were a few years back and employment was stable, Then I could see them saying well this guys a bum. but I'm not alone today in the there just is no work pool. and there was no mention of proof of lay off or stubs from UI. Here's the kicker I told the recruiter that I had worked with a local towing outfit for a short time 1-1/2 months about a month ago and she said if I could verify that would be fine. but in the same sentence she said but you were still unemployed for over 5 months prior to that. I"m waiting to here back from them. I think my recruiter may be a little confused I originally told her I had 3 years otr but I have been driving class b concrete trucks for the past 10+ years. she said that I would have to complete a refresher course to be considered. I have read a number of post on another forum where cdl holders with lack of recent exp. have been excepted and went through the whole retraining process. That's what I'm looking for, I'm not proud I'm rusty and welcome any and all further education. My DAC is good my application is good according to her. I know that my 3 years otr is not a great deal of exp. but anyone who drives trucks knows that the lessons learned out there are not easily forgotten and you can't get them in the sleeper bunk sitting next to 4 other students. Other than getting assimilated with the equip. and any log book changes I know I can slip back into the slot.

I have always heard that Prime is a meat-grinder company. They take foolish rookies with big dreams and lease them a truck. They work you for a while, then freeze you out so you lose the truck and then they do it again to someone else. North American Van Lines was finally busted for this. If they are trying to feed you this line of bs, just move on to the next meat-grinder...

Yeah, I'm starting to think that it's my past exp. that is causing the rejection from these companies that still train. My DAC is clean, work history good, no criminal record. thought my resume was good but now I'm wondering if i should omit the entry when I ran co-diver for 1 1/2 years with that o/o with reliable carriers. I mean anyone who hauled priceless autos can't possibly be entrusted with a load of Kraft mac en cheese to wal-mart. Nah think there after the guy who they can hook into that lease. I did a year o/o with mayflower after there school and when they started to try to run me into the red I ended service. they know I know the program so I'm useless to them. I can't see going lease op. with the way things are rite now. pretty sure my wife and kid would be on food stamps, but the Fm's would keep that truck rolling.
