interesting Michigan Law discovery
Found this out last monday while I was being Dot'ed here in Michigan. I asked the officer if Michigan recognized 40,000 lbs on a spread axle trailer. He said no.....36,000 lbs and they drop your drive limit to 32,000 lbs. However you get extra weight on your steers (depending on tire size) so you can actually gross over 80,000 (if plated im guessing). Just thought this was interesting as i never knew this and live in Michigan....guess Michigan just takes away the whole point of having a spread axle....and it is really nice they give you extra on the steers even though i am not sure how you are supposed to get it up there when the drive limit is cut to 32,000?????????
