Default Power/Phone Line height

Is their a minimum height for utility companies to hang power/phone/cable lines? If so does anyone know what it is? Or is it different for public roadways vs. private property? What about if the lines are connecting buildings on the same property? Just curious, my terminal delivers to some places with low hanging lines and a few of us drivers are trying to cover our a$$es.

I believe it is 14 feet on the highways and like Jeff said if your on private property there really is not a limit so if you pull down wires on someones yard,it could become a chargeable..UPSF entered a new ballgame when they started making house deliveries with 13'6 trailers.Remember before freight ,all they had was their package trucks..

Appreciate the help, I've spoken to a few local utility companies and even they say their is a "grey area" when dealing with private property.

14' or higher on public roadways, no set limit for private lots.

We had several drivers take lines down also. Some on public roads we(the company) won the case, on private lots, 50/50).

What you got to watch out for is the cable lines. The cable company(around anyways) is good for putting there lines below 13' 6".

I took out a telephone wire once. Looked around and nobody saw me. Oh well? It was on private property and I was delivering to a convenience store when I hauled ice.
