Houses Built for Truckers

Hi-- I own a piece of land in a sleepy town just off a major highway, and one of the options available to me is to divide it into 0.75-acre lots specifically for truckers to have a home and lots of space where they can park their rigs. I can sell the lots by themselves, or with the houses built. It's a major process so I am trying to do as much research as possible, but I'm not having much luck yet.

Does anyone here live on a lot like this, or know of truckers who do? What do you guys think of such an idea?

I don't see how you can specifically market to truckers unless you are just renting. That may be a push too. The only way I can see this working is if you owned a large trucking company nearby and you offered this as a benefit.

I would check your zoning laws to see if you are allowed to park a commercial vehicle on the property. In my area which is country, I was given a warning to never put a truck in the driveway again. The bottom line to my story is they ( township or county ) wants you to buy commercial property so they can tax you for it.

The land is actually zoned light-industrial which allows this use, and the town administrator who basically signs off on all development in the town is the one who suggested the use to me.

Well that is cool!!! I hope you make a pile of money!!! It would be nice to see someone other than the rich get richer... good luck keep us updated.
