Default help; the fence hurts

hey guys (and ladies) . i'm looking into trucking after 20 plus years in elevator trade . got layed off back in feb. and bench gets deeper every week . bills are still here though . so gotta sogotp . i have zero cdl experience . is it realistic to think in this economy ,with my lack of experience ,that i can make decent money or any my first year out.depending on passing test of course . i mean i figure i gotta train with a company after school for a while . i've heard some horror stories of 20000 in first year . when being told 35000 . pretty unethical .i've always loved covering ground and seeing this fantastic countryand the way other people in it live . it's interesting . but if there's no money at all it cant happen for me . i'd appreciate any input ,or suggestions guys , thx .

there are still WAY TOO MANY experienced drivers out of work. schools are taking in students, but NEVER PROMISE jobs. you ain't gonna get high dollars your first year. you "might" be able to get up to $35,000 your first year, IF YOU MAKE IT.

people (i see this all the time, at my school), think that trucking is FOR THEM, but after a mere month on the road, they chicken out. its a tough life. you DO NOT GET to vacation as you drive. if you arrive late, you can be whipped. if you have an accident, you can be whipped. you CAN BE FIRED for the smallest infractions, as there ARE WAY TOO MANY drivers out of work, and the pool is full of potential drivers ready and waiting for you to mess up.

like in the elevator business.........

trucking has it's "ups and downs"..............

and right now...........it AIN'T GOING UP.............
