Default Ifta

I have posted a few times on this board. I am new to the trucking buisness. I am getting some business cost put together and i have pretty much all of them figured out with the exception of the ifta fuel tax. I know that they are filed every quarter and i was wondering what the average that everyone is paying in fuel tax per quarter. My driver would be running about 2500-3000 miles per week mainly in the southeast and midwest. If anyone could give me a round figure that would be helpful. Also how much is the surety bond on the ifta
thanks

I don't think NJ required a bond

If you buy fuel in each state you fuel tax will be very low
because the tax is paid at the pump

the fuel tax in nj is 18cents a gallon

the fuel tax in ny is 36 cents a gallon

if you get 6mpg you owe NJ 3 cents a mile or 18 cents per gallon
you owe ny 6 cents per mile or 36 cents per gallon

a gallon in nj is 2.18
a gallon in ny is2.36

if you just drive in jersey your tax is paid at the pump
if you drive in ny, NJ tax will cover on 18 cents
since ny tax is 36cents a gallon and NJ will only pay 18
you either have to buy fuel in NY so your tax is paid at the pump or
at the end of the month or quarter you the carrier must come up with the extra 18 cents a gallon
thats your IFTA fuel tax
every state has a different tax
so you try to pay at the pump in each state
