I PREFERRED Google Maps (when I was informed about it) to ANY typically faulty directions of people at companies that usually do not know HOW they got there much less where are any low structures.
I love the companies that state "We get trucks in here all the time".

I still PREFER Google Maps when at home to discern given routes BEFORE beginning the run(s) when I'm given Mapcrust directions in say an email or in person.

For EVERYONE else, DO TRY GOOGLE MAPS as this system is functionally SUPERIOR to anything gps can offer and unlike gps, Google can be printed by any standard Printer.

Speaking of gps (generally pointless stupidity), I was on a small run yesterday (day cab and 48' trailer) and the unit stated we needed to turn left THEN MAKE A LEGAL U-TURN. WHY this pointless stupidity cannot simply state MAKE A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN and avoid an often difficult u-turn is beyond me.
Just another reason I do not use gps with a Combo....or at all.

Google maps sounds good, but I have a black berry and I'm not inclined to get a lap top quite yet. So the gps maps and map quest work just fine for the mean time.

Actually twice in the last couple of weeks I've got almost in trouble using google maps, gps.

In Nc on a US route I forget the actual route number, but the sign stayed 13.0.luckily I read signs and I could have backed up if I had to. I was able to lower my air so that I was just about 2 inches shy of the bottom of the bridge.

Even some atlases can be out of date.

Poetic timing I guess. The other day I was in carlisle, pa I used gps, map quest and my atlas. Going to the place of my destination map quest had me take a left turn. When I got half way down the street there was a sign that read bridge max weight 7 tons.

I ended up backing up bout. 1 1/2 miles to an area in which I could turn around at.

Funny thing is that had I gone straight the destination was less then a mile on the right. When I got there, they told me they saw me take the turn.

Im thinking about griutng a remote access program for my black berry so I have access to my home pc.

That way I can have access to google earth.
