Question Need informations about truck drivers' work

Hello everybody,

I'm a french truck driver and I would like to come to work and live in the US.
I saw that my driver licences are available in South Carolina.
What do I need to drive a truck except my licences?
Where can I found a local company? Do you know some companies looking for truck drivers in SC?

I also would like to know if there are somethings different about the maximum weight, maximum length?
Do you have a disc/card that control your speed?
Because in France all the trucks are limited at nearly 56 mph...
Recently I went in SC (from 5 october to 15 october) and I saw many trucks driving fast.

Thanks a lot for all your answers.

I don't know your legal status in the USA. It sounds like you have or can get a CDL so you must have permission to work already. Most trucking companies govern the trucks around 65mph. I dont know of any company using paper discs for logs. We do have logbooks. Most use paper and a few electronic. Good luck finding a job with no experience in the USA.

Thank you so much to answer me !
I have experiences here in France so I hope to find a job !
I'm 27 years old and I got my licences on august 2008, and I've always worked since...;-)
Before I was a worker but they made a lot of redundancy, there's no work anymore...
And I've always wanted to drive a truck that's why I got my licences last year...
I have to find a company who will be able to sponsor me for a legal visa to work in the US..
I came to DMV in South Carolina at Charleston and they told me that my licences are available there so that's a really good new for me...
They explained me I must find a company who wants to hire me !
In France we're paid per hour with this disc or numerical card...
We do between 40 and 50 hours weekly. How many hours in the US?
How do they proceed there? I saw maybe it was per mile??
Thanks !
