I was completely naive, uneducated, and misinformed on this subject. I thought he would go there, go to a CDL school, get his CDL, and come home to a job where he would be home alot. In the past few days I have found out that that is not how it works. I cannot live with him gone all the time. I did not get married to wake up to an empty bed all the time and raise the kids by myself. I have read that most new drivers have to take the crap runs and are gone most of the time.
I have also read that now is not the time to try to get into truck driving because of the economy.
I need some great advice from some of you who know what you are talking about. Please help! |

I hate it, I have been driving for 40yrs., tell him it not great starting out as a new driver, you work for the most

hole companys for the first few years (some companys still paying "1973" wages $35,000. to $40,000., out of pocket money, out on the road for 1,2,3,4 weeks at a time and no family life), until you get some driving years

. How to the worst, lost my first wife to driving and lost 13 years, working, not watching my kids growing up. I had to start all over again, taking care of my kids which are grow up now (39 & 41). I learn a a lot about family and the trucking business over the years. Things have change in this business today, I have been in some bad economy times over the years and this is the worst I have seen it in 40yrs. I work for a great LTL company for years making double then (1973) wages. I am happy, 2nd wife and 12 grandkids which I enjoy. I hope this helps you, trucking is a hard business and you will always have a job driving. I do not want to tell you, to tell him to stop. I am just letting you and him know whats out there.
