TWIC cards are for places like the seaports, to give you "un-escorted" authority to move about the seaport. however, if a security official still wants to escort you, you have to comply. its set up by the Homeland Security people and i do believe the U.S. Coast Guard as well.

also, "some" warehouses require a TWIC card as well, especially if its got a government contract, or other things of extreme high value.

NO ONE can have ANY criminal past, in order to obtain a TWIC card, AND you MUST get a renewal TWIC card every 5 years.

costs "about" $135 to obtain, and they can take it away from you for just about ANY infractions.

some trucking companies are also requiring a TWIC card as a condition of employment. especially any fueling type of operation, that is usually located at where else...?? the seaports.

as for the "passcard".......

i don't have one, so i do not know much about it, but i "thought" it had something to do with crossing the canadian border without you presenting a bona-fide passport.....????

Good info. I thought TWIC was for ports... also good for RailYards?
I had to get a passcard working for Roehl.
As of 06/09 any carrier with Canada authority is supposed to have their drivers get one, also good in Mexico, Carribean and Bermuda... for ship drivers I guess.

"CDL Mills", refers to ANYONE going to trucking school and paying for a "quick class" of say less than 160 hours. when classroom time(approx 35 hours) is figured in for DOT regualtions and such, then there is only about 120-125 hours for ANY yard manuvers and what ever road time they get, which is basically, next to nothing. whole course can be about no more than 4 weeks, in some instances.

these "CDL Mills", churn out "alleged" drivers faster than "Land-O-Lakes" turns out butter.

many of which may not be able to get driving jobs, in fact, even the "longer" driving classed of 460 (or more) hours isn't any guarantee of a job either, but its is somewhat more training.
