they have been wanting to ban trucks from that gorge for years and make it a senic byway i woudnt be surprised if they never let trucks back thru there since there going to have to redo the road anyway they might just do as they have planed although i live along the detour route and there is nowhere for trucks to stop my local walmart has had a number of customer cars hit by trucks trying to get in there to park also they dont have any stop signs or yellow polls anymore there now calling the sherrifs department every morning at 7:00 am and having them run the trucks out of the lot the ones that complain get ticketed as there is a town ordanince for no truck parking there

Travel time is increased merely by 20 miles going I-81N. to I-77S and reversed.
This route is actually SAFER than the Gorge and better time wise.
