Maine, the epitome of driving possibilities.

Since you just wanna drive, why not check into some possibilities with some of the larger companies, but BE FOREWARNED that loads into Maine for home time are scarce.

Thanks for your input C.K. I realize that Me. is a whole world away from the real world and there is probably noooo freight leaving out of here. I wouldn't know which carrier to look at. Who would be hiring that could get you home>

Welcome to the board, haventgotone. Like CK said, your best bet might be to check with the larger companies just playing the law of averages that they have the possibility of freight in more areas. These days nobody knows who's hiring without asking. They could probably get you out of the house easier than getting you to it, but freight to/from Mass. could be your best bet. Just start calling and talking to recruiters and ask them what their freight looks like up there, that'll be your best bet.

i think i have been to rockport, me. isn't there a clothing manufacturer there..?? i seem to remember picking up a load of "Nautica" jackets to bring down to NJ some years ago.

i cannot tell you where that place is, (nautica) but IT IS in rockport. try and get there and see which companies are there and nabe you can ask the drivers, or at least from that, call the companies. MAYBE, just maybe, some company has "dedicated account", or at the very least, a local company in the area can use you for shuttles and such...???

i got something else, there is (or was) a warehouse in Fore River, Me, near portland, not too far from rockport. its on Read St.

exit 8 off 295, to washington ave (north), go to 4th lite, turn left onto Canco RD, go to end, right onto Read.

IF they are still in business, THEY HAD local trucks, but again, you can see what other trucking comapnies go there.

the Rockport (nautica) and Fore River warehouse WERE SOME YEARS AGO.

the chances of either to STILL BE IN BUSINESS is slim..........

so you gotta go and check those out for yourself. hey, "go for a sunday drive".......if you have to..

i do not have directions to "nautica".........sorry. all i remember is that the nautica warehouse (or factory?) was on the "main road, and i had to go up a long driveway, that over looked the road below....
