It's called unloading your trailer and getting into shape at the same time - I know its not part of your job, but you get paid to do exercise. Your large truck stops has a parking lot that around the perimeter is between .3 to .6 miles, I know drivers would laugh at you for doing this, right, but you just made the comment about this obese driver, would you have laughed if you had seen him walking around the parking lot? My point is that all of these reasons that drivers give for being over weight is BS because there are ways of staying active with out wearing some out fit that looks stupid, just a pair of walking shoes and the mind set that others can set on their fat butts and laugh at you for walking while in time you can laugh at them for bad knees due to being subjected to being over weight, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack or maybe more then one of the many problems that obese people are waiting to die from. Go ahead and laugh at the drivers taking walks or running because as the saying goes "they will get the last laugh" if you know what I mean. How about giving the reasons for why you can't exercise? Unlike the lazy drivers some have medical reasons for being over weight. How healthy are you?
when ever i would pull into a truckstop, i would usually find a parking place far away from the main building. this would (of course) force me to walk several yards to that building. although i never really did any other type of walking at the truckstop, when at a customers warehouse, if i was told it'll be about an hour beofre i'd be loaded (or empty), then i'd walk around the area there. sometimes, down the street from the warehouse, if just to look at the general area.

but i too have to admit, that i HAD SEEn so many instances wherea driver is sitting at either the counter or booth, and that driver will (what seemed like) opening up the salt shaker and POURING salt on his food. or how about the COUNTLESS time i'd see a driver (seemingly) open up the sugar packets, or the top of the sugar jar, and POUR IN coupies amounts of sugar.

surely, these acts are not healthy. all we can do is take care of ourselves the best we can. we cannot take the time to worry or poke fun of those people that have seemingly, no regards for thier own destiny with thier health issues.

all we CAN DO, is if someone goes down, and starts clutching his chest, is we dial 9-1-1................

First off, I'm 6'5" and 200 lbs. I'm NOT a fat truck driver!

I see a lot of huge drivers out there too. Is it because of driving or are fat guys drawn to the industry?

you know, with things being the way it is, and people poking fun at fatty's, i think that the over weight people feel more comfortable when they are working in an atmosphere free of personal insults or constant gawking fro others. i mean think of it.......

a fat person works in an office. all the co-workers look at that person, and in their small clique of friends, they poke fun.

now take that same fat person, put him (or her) behind the wheel of a big rig, virtually out of sight from any one else, till that person leaves the truck....

a quiet, peaceful work environment..........with NO ONE to shout out insults, or talk behind one's back........

I don't clean up Vomit, Urine or Feces, therefore you'll need to show me how to operate the questionable equipment that is under your dysfunctional maintenance plan BEFORE I can allow any one of the 4 regular customers (when they're not passed out in the storage room) to mill about in YOUR mini mart after the minor and pointless attempt at cleaning.

The LAST BASTION of a Free society (such as it is) is the allowance to humiliate and aggravate People that don't somehow FIT IN with what the societal claims are of acceptance.
Slim, skinny People are usually obsessed with looking slim and/or skinny and as well possess unequivocal mental abnormalities which are not present in over weight People.

The BIGGER the Person, the MORE TO LOVE!!

EVERYONE LOOKS GOOD TO SOMEONE!!
