Well I suppose he might do OK. I'd imagine going from being a news anchor to being a truck driver would be a bit of a shock. ;-)

That was great, every driver who is thinking about going to a huge company like the two in the story should watch that first. It really makes me appreciate that I've never had to work for someone like that.

what that former instructor said, i can "back him up, 100%"....

i too have witnessed SEVERAL safety issues, but the school IS ONLY INTERESTED I THEIR MONEY..........

lies, deceit, you name it, the school has it, 10 fold.........

just like that (now former) instructor, i too am "disenchanted" with the LEARNING/TEACHING aspects of the job.

as he said, (and i have to paraphrase it here), "there ARE SOME, that SHOULD NEVER be behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler" and he basically said the same thing i said,
"when people lose their jobs, they think that trucking will save them".........

yes every body has to learn their job skills, but when i personally witness, (or that former instructor witnessed) SEVERAL SAFETY VIOLATIONS, or the DOWN RIGHT STUPIDITY of the students, they ought to be thrown OUT OF SCHOOL.....

BUT, THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR, IS WHAT THE SCHOOLS SEE, NOT THE 10, OR THE 20, OR EVEN THE 30 YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE...........!!!

WE ARE "INVISIBLE"..........compared to the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR, THE SCHOOLS SEE...........

AND THAT'S THE GOD AWFUL TRUTH.........

Pro 1 you have hit the nail on the head, it,s all about money as you same the mighty green back, it,s the same down here in NZ all the bull driving schools, all they teach is theory & bugger all practice & then these so called trained drivers hit the road & kill & mame & roll over, driving big rigs is a constant learning thing you never stop learning & can never say you know it all, though there are plenty that do .
If I was ever going to be an employer I would be looking for expeirence & attitude not fancy certificates etc but at the end of the day sadly it,s all about money.

kiwiray down under.
