Default Cowan Systems don't hire new drivers

I heard from Cowan today...they told me call back in 6 months. Currently I have 1.5 years on the road experience although I've been licensed for 2 years. I guess the industry wants (meaning insurance companies) 2 years for better rates. So who hires a guy like me? Help please.

ford41 WELCOME ABOARD!!

Some Companies have the 2 year stipulation yet still acquire unskilled Drivers, so go figure.
The 2 year rule is not set in stone nor is it a general or even a major rule.

Check your local rag paper or online as there are plenty of Companies willing to hire Drivers with less than 2 years experience.
Check Schneider for example as they only require 6 months verifiable OTR exp.
Check as well with Food Service outfits, Mail Hauling Contractors, LTL Companies, other Local or long distance Companies, Moving Companies, other Line Haul Companies.
Some temporary services do not require 2 years.
There ARE other avenues so don't shoot yourself in the foot at the 3rd or 13th stop sign.
Times are certainly rough and possibly to get worse before better yet even though there is an excessive amount of unemployed Drivers, MANY of these Drivers are as well UNEMPLOYABLE in Trucking for various reasons (one being incompetence) which help to get the Employable Drivers, like me, EMPLOYED.

Hope to soon read you're employed somewhere.

Thanks Naturally Oozing, glad to be here. I agree, time are rough. I'm plugging along. Lots of container work here, just trying to get one to put me to work. I figure once I get 6 more months under my belt it will be easier. And as a matter of fact I did contact Schneider today, waiting for them to make the next move. Just getting a little hungry here, need some $$ coming in.
