Dugan is owned by one of the Dugan brothers in Wichita KS. Other companies owned by the Dugan brothers include Chris (now owned by Vitran), US Roads, Mid-Trans (now combined with US Roads) and the grand daddy of them all that was started by the dad, USF/TNT Dugan (bought by TNT/USF and then YRCW and closed down).

I was leased to Chris for 8 years and know that all the boys are very tight with their money. Don't expect to make a lot of money with them, but they are pretty fair to work for. It's a good way to get into LTL if you don't have a lot of driving experience.

I'll give you one example of how tight they are. When YRCW got a 5% give back from their drivers, the Dugan companies also took 5% from their workers' already small checks. (I know someone who works for US Roads who told me this info, so It is 2nd hand)

For a new truck driver with not much experience, Dugan would be a good place to start.

They also pay full-time drivers weekly salaries instead of the more traditional hourly or milage pay for drivers, the Dugans have always done that,I don't think they make you work lots of hours over what you signed up for,but the potential for abuse is always there. The Dugans have a pretty good reputation as fair people here in Wichita (they've been in the freight business almost 50 years)but as Guardrail pointed out they aren't gonna make you rich, they're pretty much on the lower tier paywise for freight outfits, but a good place to start!
