Default Best Truck Route from Jersey to NY by JFK???

So I am running a load up from Memphis to South Kearny, NJ {near 280 & 95} for a Tues. morning delivery. I then have a back-haul to pick up in Lynbrook, NY, which is along hwy 27 east of Valley Stream and JFK airport. This is my first trip up to the apple and aren't real sure on which would be the best route to take.

It maps out as the most direct route being the holland tunnel, across Manhattan and then the Queens midtown tunnel. Something tells me this might not be such a wise way to go, pulling a 53' van!!! Do I need to drop all the way down to 278 and take the Verazanno Narrows bridge and circle the bay? This is a non haz-mat load. Not sure if big trucks are allowed to use the tunnels there and what I can expect for traffic/roads/tight turns. Is crossing Manhattan a mistake?

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.

If you have a 53ft. van, I assume it is 13'6" you are not allowed in any tunnel in NYC. The best route for you being by 280 & 95 is to go over the George Washington bridge and follow to 678 south which is called the Van Wyck Exp. Take it down to the airport and you will see signs for rt27 east. Pay attention and make sure you stay on 678, it kinda splits at some point by the Mets ballpark.
If you go around the bottom and have never done it before all the trucks must exit signs will freak you out because of the bridges. (It did me the first time) but you can get under anything on 278 heading into Brooklyn. You can cut across Atlantic Blvd. and come out to 678.
For your first time I would go the way I said to. Good Luck and remember..
