Sounds like slingshot hasn't had to miss a paycheck or 6. I agree, if Jevic's misfortune can put a few more Shoes back on the road that would be good for all us "brothers"

Agreed that most other ltl companies will get the freight that is available now that Jevic is gone. My thought was that everyone already knows that and that posting it is in bad taste.
Just my .02 I guess maybe I know all to well how those guys must feel and it brought back a few bad feelings for me.

If I remember right, Yellow bought Jevic in 1999 for 200 million dollars. Sold it in 2002 for 40 million, and 12 million in future tax breaks. Boy was that a great business decision. I don't remember what Yellow paid for USF in 2005, but I know they have been running it into the ground ever since. Its unbeliveable how they took a highly profitable operation like Holland and destroyed it. Good job Zollars.If you noticed, they didn't touch New Penns operation and they are still making money hand over fist.

Well put...THANK YOU! I cannot tell you how it makes me feel as the wife of a 14 yr long Jevic employee to see stuff like this right now. It has been a terrible strain on my husband to be fired as he was. Seeing a post like that is a painful reminder that that load may have been a meal on the table for 5 children. I meant no disrespect in my post. In fact I hope that we will hire some of the Jevic employees. I, myself used to work at Jevic @ 35th & Pulaski (Chicago), and liked the company and most of it's employees. But whats done is done, and I want to see Holland do well, and yes, that does mean taking advantage of whatever we can. I also had my last 3 employers go out of business, so I've been there. The only thing you can do is move on. You can make me out to be a bad guy if you want, but I've been where you are now, and dwelling on (what you see as) negative is not the answer. I will not apologise for wanting my company to do well, but I do feel bad that you took it personally.
